Thanks goes to Frank, Lesley and Bobby. As these chaps came forth with happy memories of working at Hinks' Appledore boatyard and working on the NonSuch and Golden Hind. They had nothing but smiles on their faces as they each shared memories of all the fun they had putting in a full days hard shift at the yard and playing football in their lunch breaks as well.

So, we don't know if you've noticed, but winter had some rain in it this year. We wondered if you'd even been able to venture out at all? . . . Poppins People . . .

The Poppins group of those wonderful people running and assisting, along with parents and youngsters, was a fabulous experience for us at Tidal and a thank you goes out to Caitlin for her great photography for this article too. The Quay Gift Shop & Gallery team were ever so welcoming and showed all of their great products that they have for sale. Northam Town Councils article on the May Fair looks VERY exciting and they had great information for us to chat about. Finally there's our international man of mystery Mr Fred Lamey (um) It's best we let him do the talking, which seems to be something that he's very good at . . . t'was getting him to take a breath that was tricky.

We've followed the work of shipwright Chris Frisby and his volunteers who are renovating the Jane Hannah MacDonald III - the lil' boat of Appledore RNLI and Dunkirk, Thanks Chris for your time and experience! The volunteers re-created a scene from the 1967 film 'The Plank' (bless em) Eric Sykes + Tommy Cooper re-imagined, actually building a rudder!

Well we've not had the coldest of winters so far in Appledore but as '009' of Tidal Magazine is out for delivery we expect the north winds to come down once more . . . the digital version was posted live 28th November 2025.
